Technician/C and Stipendiary Trainee Category-II

The Process of selection involves three stages i.e. Preliminary Test, Advanced Test and Trade/Skills Test.

Stage 1 – Preliminary Test

The format of the Preliminary test shall be common for all disciplines and will be in the following format:

  1. The examination shall comprise 50 Multi Choice Questions (Choice of four answers) of one-hour duration in the following proportion:
Mathematics20 questions

General Awareness10 questions
  1. Three (3) marks will be awarded for each correct answer and One (1) mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer.

Stage 2 – Advanced Test

  1. All candidates qualifying in Stage 1 to undertake an Advanced test in their respective trade.
  2. The test will comprise 50 Multi Choice Questions (Choice of four answers) with three (3) Marks awarded for each correct answer and one (1) marks deducted for each incorrect answer. A test will be of two hours duration.

  1. A merit list of candidates will be prepared based upon scores obtained in Stage 2 only.
  2. In the event of a tie, the following criteria shall be adopted in sequence for deciding position in merit list:

o                Candidate with lower negative Marks in Stage 2 shall be placed higher on the merit list,

o                Candidate with higher marks in Stage 1 shall be placed higher on the merit list,

o                Candidate with lower negative Marks in Stage 1 shall be placed higher on the merit list,

o                Candidate with higher positive marks in Mathematics in Stage 1 shall be placed higher,

o                Candidate with higher positive marks in Science in Stage 1 shall be placed higher.

“Preliminary and Advanced Tests will be conducted on the same day.”

Stage 3 – Trade/Skills Test

  1. Based upon the merit list prepared after Stage 2 candidates in each trade will be shortlisted for Trade/Skills Test.
  2. The number of candidates to be shortlisted for Trade/Skills Test would depend upon the number of candidates qualifying for Stage 2 but shall not exceed 4-5 times the number of vacancies in each trade.
  • Trade/Skills Test will be conducted on a “Go/No-Go” basis.
  1. Candidates clearing the Trade/Skills Test will be shortlisted and impaneled in order of merit based on marks secured in Stage 2.

iii Upper Division Clerk Level 1

The written examination will be of one and half hours duration comprising 100 objective type questions.

Objective Test Covering:

  1. General English
  2. General Knowledge
  3. General Intelligence & Reasoning
  4. Quantitative Aptitude [Arithmetic]

Three (3) marks will be awarded for each correct answer and One (1) mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Level 2

The written examination will be of Three hours in English Language and Comprehension.

Descriptive Written Test

  1. English Language and Comprehension

Final selection /Empanelment will be based on marks obtained in the Level-2 Test.

  1. Stenographer Grade – III Level 1

The written examination will be of one and half hours duration comprising 100 objective type questions.

Objective Test Covering:

  1. General English
  2. General Knowledge
  3. General Intelligence & Reasoning
  4. Quantitative Aptitude [Arithmetic]

Three (3) marks will be awarded for each correct answer and One (1) mark will be deducted for each incorrect answer. Level 2

Stenography Skill Test

Minimum Speed of 80 w.p.m in English Shorthand and 30 w.p.m in English Typewriting
